STEAMworks was founded by a junior at the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA), to provide elementary school students with free access to STEAM education amidst the pandemic. Currently, STEAMworks is led by 3 juniors at OCSA.

Upon starting STEAMworks, applications quickly opened for high school students who shared a passion for STEAM and working with students. STEAMworks received over 300 applications globally, including Canada, England, UAE, Korea, and China.
